Most people know me as a published author, a spiritual guru, and of course as The American Monk - but not many know I'm also a licensed minister!
About a month ago my lovely granddaughter Erin gave me the chance to dust off my tux when she asked me to help her tie the knot with her fiance Shaun in San Diego.
It was simply beautiful. It's not often that a grandfather gets to officiate his own granddaughter's wedding!
It's times like these that I feel truly blessed.

Today I had to drop my daughter to a birthday party where a family is celebrating their only son's birthday ,then I had to go to the funeral home where another family is saying goodbye to their son's body I just thought for a moment how unfair is that.Then at the end of the day I see your post with the great picture. Suddenly my thoughts changed!We should live each day to the fullest and grab every opportunity as if there is no tomorrow.

It is amazing that you had that opportunity. As a granddaughter I can tell you it means the world to us to have our grandparents with us on such a special occasion. I had 3 of my grandparents at my wedding and my mother-in-law was the minister who did the ceremony. Nothing could have been more special to me save for my dads father being there but at least I know his memory and spirit was there with us. You are truly blessed and a truly amazing being, thank you so much for all the wonderful insight you share with all of us.

That's really lovely! It has brought back lovely memories for me which I'd love to share. My own Dad married me, back in 1966, and also took part in the weddings of both my sons as well as Christening two of his granddaughters. (Sadly he has also burried a beautiful baby granddaughter too).
As you might guess, I'm in my sixties now and my Dad? - well, he'll be 98 in April, God willing. He still preaches from time to time and took the services in his Church just two weeks ago. His body may be a little feeble now, but his mind is sharper than ever. He reads Eckhart Tolle, etc and loves listening to the many spiritual mp3's I download to my iPod - including yours.
You've got a way to go yet to catch him, Burt! Only kidding! I think you're fantastic and I owe a great deal to you and your wonderful work. Long may you continue to inspire us all, and 'Thank you'
