To continue our discussion on conscious modeling, let me tell you about how I used this technique as the foundation for my quest towards enlightenment.
My first brush with conscious modeling began in my youth, just after I had been discharged from the army. It was at this point that I figured out that enlightenment was my life's purpose, and I was looking for a spiritual master to help me reach this goal.
In 1949, my strong intent led me to Paramahansa Yogananda - the great Indian swami who had introduced meditation and yoga to the West. I joined Yogananda's Self Realization Fellowship, and took it upon myself to learn all I could from him in as short a space of time as possible.

So I took his lessons, listened to his advice and sought his opinions as often as he would allow. This persistence increased my abilities and knowledge by leaps and bounds, but it was at this point that I began to realize something else:
Following Yogananda's teachings gave me good results - but doing what he DID gave me incredible results.
Let me explain the second part of that sentence. Yogananda's talent and wisdom were vast - so vast that his words alone would not have been enough to express everything.
So I decided to observe him, and pick up parts of his behaviour, actions and mannerisms, in the hope that somehow, whether consciously or subconsciously, some of his unspoken talent and wisdom would rub off on me.
And they did! I modeled his methods of interacting with people, his posture when meditating, his daily routine... and within a matter of weeks, I was experiencing breakthroughs I once never thought possible.
And that was the first time I experienced firsthand the power of conscious modeling.
In some ways, it was a total perception shift compared to what I'd previously learned. Because while disciplines like meditation are all about looking inward, conscious modeling involved looking outward at others.
It was clear to me at that point - to unleash the unrealized potential within you, you first need to observe and emulate the realized potential radiating from others.
Ever since then I've continued to use this incredibly effective technique on those I can learn from, including visionaries like Jose Silva, the founder of the Silva Method. As you may know I am a certified Silva instructor, and spent years working with Jose and his organization to help spread his teachings.
There is no doubt in my mind that it was modeling these great gurus that helped me discover my potential and begin spreading my message of enlightenment to the world.
Now that I've shared with you how I have used conscious modeling to emulate the success of those I admire most, I would like to hear your thoughts:
Who would you most like to consciously model, and why? (It doesn't have to be a famous person, even your neighbour or co-worker can be a role model!)
My name is Burt Goldman. I’m one of those “lucky people” who discovered a secret early in life. For the last 50 years, I have been traveling the world and meeting and studying spiritual masters from every inch of our planet. Now, at the age of 82, I'm ready to share with the world what I have learned. I started this blog to be able to share with you my most valuable teachings and insights I have gained over the past few decades. Here, you'll find plenty of valuable information on meditation, energy healing, spirituality, and my latest revelation, Quantum Jumping. I look forward to connecting with you and I sincerely hope you enjoy being a part of this blog.

Generally I do not post on blogs, but I would like to say that this post really forced me to do so! really nice post.
Dear Burt,
I feel so blessed that God keeps sending people in my life as my role model in deep prayer which now we called meditation.
It started in early years after I graduated in college when I studied special cours on religious studies. It was part of our formation to pray for 1 hour silent prayer/or meditation to develop our spiritual life goes with academic and work or ministry, for one year and one and two summer.
After this formation, I worked as pastoral worker in Muslim area in my country, Philippines where my Bishop and other religious missionary that I worked with involved in contemplative prayer or even applied the meditation techniques from Buddhist/Hindus tradition. The deep prayer life of the Muslims 5x a day sounded in the whole city creates a very contemplative atmospher plus the witnessing of the prayer life with all those I lived and workked with inspires me to continue in prayer.
When I arrived in Canada, I find it difficult to practice such intensity of prayer life which I believed was the reason of all sorts of crisis I had experienced during the first few years.
But, God continously pouring out His blessings to me in spite of my own limitation, that last summer I took a course under a lay professor who deepthness of his prayerlife/spirituality is similar to those people with whom I had been with who helped me to love to meditate. In our class prayer/meditation in Christian tradition is not popular in words but it is being lived out/practice that makes the class very life giving and people become more loving... THERE'S LIFE...
To give credit to this professor (though he does not need it) Prof. Michael Hyrniuk shortly became my spiritual director. For some reason, we did not continue our meeting, but His modelling and influenced in my life evoked in me the gift that i already have but not thoroughly practice until I met him/ learned something from his witnessing about spirituality. With his influenced in my life I continoulsy doing my meditation.
Burt, your program and lessons, guidance and wisdom reinforced such experienced for I learned a lot from you Burt.
Burt, thank you so much for encouraging us to share our experience.
Have a Nice Evening

Burt,
how fortunate you were to be in Yogananda's presence to have the blessing to model after him. I have been involved in Siddha Yoga for over 20 years and have followed the teachings of Gurumayi and Baba Muktananda. I recently became involved with Kriya yoga courses through Yogananda's self realization fellowship. I listened to the Autobiography of a Yogi for at least a year non-stop, no radio, no TV, just the Autobiography. It was incredibile and I recommend that to anyone that really wants to open up the channels to see what is possible for each and every one of us. I have been in the presence of Gurumayi for 2 intensives, but I feel like I am her and she is me. So I can just imagine how wonderful it was to be with your Guru on a consistent basis. Yes, you are so correct, by following and believing the deep teachings of the self through enlightened beings does make everything so much easier. Thank you for sharing.
My greatest teacher in this life is my
Grandmother. She crossed over 20 years ago, and she is with me every day.
A smile on your face, a hug in your eyes and a laugh in your heart are best to share in and out of the mirror!
First of all, Jesus for obvious reason's, but also my 20 month old great grandson.
He is so sweet and pure, unbiased, not a prejudice bone in his body, and he does not know how to hate.
He gives unconditional love, and is full of learning, playing, and laughter. That's what I want is to
be able to love unconditionally, and to always be full of learning, laughter and playfulness. He is so innocent, which I believe is the essence of who we all are. Think about it, we were all born innocent, some one had to teach us how to be who we are now. I just want to go back to the innocents, the purity. He is so genuinely happy, and most of the time for no reason, just because he's so innocent and doesn't know any thing else yet.
Blue Skies,
Sandy
I would like to learn more of Burts suggested routines,
as a practioner of his materials, I am always looking to improve and I consider Burt a great role model. Thanks Burt ....Anna
Hi Burt,
being an conscious being of spirit has started when I was 24 years old. In this time, I lived in the south of France, in a community, buildet by an ancient priest, who has served the pope in rome. He gave me the book to read:
The life of the Masters,..from Baird T. Spalding.
This was my opening. And the real first contact with the Christ...Love every-body...
This is a big deal, and do not knowing myself, I loved and loved and loved, and forgived every-bodies.
But not me,......
Than latest, after another relationship was falling down, the last lover told me, that I`ve to love myself.
What a big deal. Where to start? Being good to myself, loving myself. Looking inside, there is a big whole, going deeper and deeper, larger, wider. Infinity,..waow..
And where I am? How can I tell, that the I exist?
By being form, I am a reflection (mirroir) of all around me. And the Other`s are me.
All the great teachers who are teaching Love are my teachers, children`s and innocence,--everybody can give, if my ears and eyes are wide enough opened.
I wish that this earth-familie wake up from their dream- to be this body, that they stop to kill themself, by ignorence.
That the value of life itself will be greater as the material.
That, it is no more the having, but the being the most important.
Heide
My tai chi teachers, for starters. They are calm,
happy, balanced, healthy, giving, kind, and strong. I simply enjoy being in their presence. It makes me feel at home, happy, and it's just plain fun learning from them. There are also many more people I'd like to emulate. My Aunt, NithyaAnanda, even fictional characters like Dr. Who, and, after listening to so much of your wonderful material, you, Burt!
Thank you for being you!
Shelley
Dear Burt,
..And to anyone else who reads this.
Please consider me the new kid on the block, or rookie if you will, when it comes to the path of Enlightenment.
But I DO want to learn, even more I want to APPLY those skills to my life. My life is good, pls don't get me wrong.. But what I want is an amazing life. Growing up, I thought amazing lives only belonged to rich people. Now I'm beginning to see differently, and I'm so glad that I did
Thank you Burt for all that you've shared with the world so far. And I continue to look forward to anything else that you'd like to spread around
thank you for everything
your friend

Time spent with the Paramhansa Yogananda must have undoubtedly benefitted you. And taking him as a role model and emulating him must have done you quite good.
But at this time I remember the great spiritual master, Osho saying "Do what your guru says. Never copy what he does." And I want to go with that quote. Let me give you an example. Suppose you stayed with a doctor for a couple of years and worked according to his advice. Surely in a couple of years you would know a thing or two about medicinal practice. Then one day you decided to emulate the doctor and started doing the practice as he used to do. Does this make you a doctor? Rather than making you a doctor it would create a false sense of self. Having someone as a role model makes life easy to some extent. But it will not liberate you. And every human on this planet wants liberation. For liberation, self realisation is the one and only way. And this can only be achieved in deep state of meditation. The great Paramhansa Yogananda was a great exponent of it and you were very lucky to have personally interacted and practiced under his guidance. But emulating him as a role model did not make you as liberated as Paramhansa Yogananda. Or did it?
Children are my role models. Although I do not consciously model their actions, I strive to emulate (perhaps "remember" would be more appropriate) their innocence, their curiosity, and their love for everyone. I thoroughly enjoy watching them experience something for the first time, listening to the questions they ask and the comments they make. They are living this life as if everything is brand new! Simply knowing that these kids might actually be taking care of me 20 years from now only increases the love and heartfelt gratitude I have for them.
So many beautiful answers.
For me I also see everybody and everything as a mirror. All is an aspect of me also. I always (want to) see myself in the other and see the other in me.
I use 'other selfs' as examples (quantum jumping). I use Burt, Jesus, Boedha, my best friend Monique. Bob Doyle, Sasha Xarrian, Helen Hadsell. My daughter, 'my' cat's. "Logging in", yes.
I use All that is, myself included.
Thanks!
Anita.
I feel the question is not all-inclusive. i have many role models. What I do is to log on to the spiritual energy field of a model and try to emulate a certain quality. For another quality, I log on to another role model. Hindu scriptures have a Sanskrit word for "logging in" - avahana. Here, we invite another energy field - for a temporary period - into our energy field and "gather" whatever is needed.

Hi all,
I have read a lot of your posts (apologies for not reading all - time). I fear some of us may have missed Burt's point. I don't think he is talking about finding a role model and aspiring to be like them. Burt's point (correct me if I'm wrong please Burt) is that in the presence of the people we admire we should copy/adopt/mirror their exact body language and then use the same movements/mannerisms in other areas of our lives. In a relatively short time using your body exactly the same way that they do will generate the same feelings, insights, skills or successes of those whom we are modeling. Just keep a clear, open and playful mind and all will happen magically.
To all
Good luck being you.
Thanks Burt for your messages and your efforts to spread enlightenment throughout the world. I have had a notion about something different within me for most of my life. I have had these feelings that there is something I know but, I don't know what it is that I know. I'm 55 yrs old now and when I was 22, I read the Third Eye by Lopsang Rampa and met someone who introduced me to a new way of understanding the universe. Since then I've continued to search and have come across Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyre, Eckhart Tolle, Jane Roberts, Karen Bishop, Dr. Eric Pearl and have tried to study the I Ching. What you have presented in your latest program of Quantum Jumping is an awesome opportunity for me to experience what I have always been looking for. I hope this is the model that will propel me into achieving the ability to learn techniques and to heal so that I can give back and share with people who need the help.
Hi Burt happy easter. My role model is the Holy family. I can't think of any one.I can't even meditate deep.I don't know if I have to have a teacher. What do you think?
I don't have one....I can't think of any one person. There are a lot of people I admire and wish I had there knowledge but no one person I would like to model after....it would have to be Jesus....because he walked from his heart and spirit....I endeavour to be the best person I can be and practise his teachings and principles.
I honest to God only wanna be me and that is all.If i had any asperations to be like anybody it would be maybe harrison ford for his boldness, bob dylan for his will to never give up on his dreams and goals,Jesus for his ways of teaching the world how to succeed and lastly a train or plane driver who actually can get me to LA where I so want to be.Want is not bad it's also a variation of desire and lust as well i still am confused.words can even intersect. It all still baffles me.I mean i studied many numerous belief even the hindus and still am baffled and even Christian books and still haven't fully discovered the Mysteries of Christ.Well maybe I have, yet my life I so want to make it better I mean ain't supposed to live each day to it's fullest ain't that God's own wish for me.If so how is that even possible if pessimism is still in my mind and how can i rid of it and still get the girl that i love.i'd do anything for her absolutely anything, yet sadly i am unemployed work online and my bishop mistreats me.maybe i should change my email sadly i may because it is getting out of hand.all i care about in the world is this girl,God and achieving my dreams and helping others too.
It is great that you got inspiration from Paramahansa Yogananda. For me till now I am inclined to any body to be very frank. Some say, life actually starts with death. Also, people say present life is nothing more than a dream, either sweet or bitter. In India there are many spiritual gurus who teach things like Knowing Thyself through meditation,Bhakti Yoga,Karma Yoga all different approach concerning a primary motive-Self Realisation,Knowing thyself. The system seems to be a tough one,and that living a normal life it is not possible to attain that level of self realisation,me to no different.
Many aspects of knowing higher-self, like knowing the candle [ 3 1/2 coil called kundalani in Indian culture ] residing at the base of spine capable to produce vibratory awareness and bring one close to the universal oneness, waiting to be lit by a empowered master. I experienced that. This is self relisation. But what is next? Will exploring sub conscious mind, experiencing out of body experience can bring us close to God or knowing that super natural power can pave the way where there is no question of return to this world-THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF ALL GURUS and we comman man.
My Grandmother Ruby was and has been an inspiration to me. She was crippled from Polo and was raised in a Charity Hospital for Children for 14 yrs. She had the ability to sleep while floating on water, like on a pond or a lake. She saw the world as unchanging, from generation to generation we humans remain the sameshe would tell me. It is only how we look at life that changes the focus of our lives. With my new personal growth of moving to a more complete life within myself. I will use Ruby and my new knowledge of the inner workings of my mind to help create a new view of the world for myself and others to enjoy.

Well role models sure but hero worshipping no that is what I always thought after seeing the gurus and saints trying to emulate GOD.
I sincerely feel that whatever a person is trying to become should not come out from a sense of incompleteness. We need to thank GOD for creating us the way we are. At the same time nothing should deter us from a path of higher consciousness.
My role models are people who are artist, scientist, healers, visionaries and thinkers. I really admire people like Van Goh, Michelengelo, Leonardo Da vinci who had were bestowed with artistic and scientific skills.
Till date I have not bought any lessons from Burt, however my active participation seems to be having a very soothing affect in me. I feel more calmness in me andhope to continue to participate in Burts blogs
from 6yrs.old when i lived with my granny, she was playing the piano free style an singing the song "what a friend we have in jesus"..looking up at her as she sang that song made me feel secure an loved[my mom had just dropped me off there an took off]...so as i developed through the years i looked back at her attitude an how she helped me to always know that i was loved an looked after..my granny was a role model for me giving me strenght at that time in my life..then as i lived further down my road of life more people came along to inspire more spiritual interest an mind knowledge....so yes our readings an people who come into our life all have our referance guide so to speak to keep us going..like you burt ..another life sustaining information or song ..even a bugs bunny cartoon..:) josi***
People, stop wishing to be like someone else, harness the ability inside of you, and just do it!
I think the only essential thing i really want or need to have now is patience..so someone with infinate patience..Don't know who that would be..Someone special!!
Thanx from the world for helping share wisdom in truth!!
Hi Burt ..this does have a scientific basis and a name ...it's NLP (Neuro linguistic programming)....
I stand corrected, Not Fantashia it was the "Never ending Story".
Hi Burt,
Role Modeling, hum, That would be a tough questions if you never thought about it. I remember once a long time ago a teacher asked a question " How do you want to make your mark in this world". I think that is a powerful question that has stuck with me through the years. There are many. I can stay, I can create and make goals, look up to other people characters and even humanitarians, Yogananda and many many more. But, I being a mother had to be the best role model, to set the example, to encourage, to allow them to dream and believe in themselves and find their own path in life. I to have had just everday people, sometimes I think angels come from nowhere to help guide and direct me. It may even come in the form of dreams and instincts. I had to be intuned and opened minded. You got to look deep within your soul, maybe even deeper, and ask yourself, what do you want! Some of you may not even know how to do that. If you died today and your whole life flashed before you, and I mean everything, good and bad.Do you like what you see, if not, then start changing. Know that will comes with peace within you. You only get one life here, dream it and create it, make it happen...I am still a work in progress. No I am not rich, a single mother who barely at times could make ends meet. A lot of hard times. A lot of my childhood dreams are still waiting in me, and still a part of me. I never let the inner child go and I never let the bad things of this world get in me. My children are my life, (well now they are all grown up) so now I am faced with the chanlenge of finally saying I'm still not to old to follow my inner child goals, dreams... whatever, just make the first step.
Burt is a great example, see your never to old or young in this life, but it's the here and now, when you wake up today, how do you want your day be? Regardless, look at no obsticles, focus on the end results and know at the end of the day, you'll hopefully say "WOW" I did that!
Burt you like some many others in the past, keeps me alive and knowing there is alway more. Even though, I know I am not along, but I do have to say, my everyday life. I do feel all alone, on a qwest and journey kinda like that movie "Fantashia" and all along the answers were inside. Thank you
Burt I Got it!
I can model my counterpart, my other self, i can use quantum jumping and observe what he does, this depending on what do I want to concentrate on, YES! I got it.. thanks
BURT ATMA NAMASTE I TRY TO BE MORE LIKE MY TEACHER GRAND MASTER CHOA KOK SUI WHO TOUGHT ME MANY GREAT LESSONS FOR LIFE AND BEYOND HIS HEALING TECHNICES SAVED ME FROM BACK SURGERY I AM BLESSED TO HAVE THIS GREAT TEACHER. SKIP
Thanks Burt for directing us to our own enlightenment. I have read many of Yogananda's books and find him as a personal mentor and Guru for correcting previously held beliefs. Though I have been reading as much as possible with Kriya Yoga, I have not attained success in achieving this desired path. You have passed on more information in this regard and are held in high esteem on my part. I often think of your questioning when dealing with certain individuals and ask them; what would your life be like without this or that?, to which I have had success with assisting a younger woman to overcome alcoholism. I give credit to where it is due, namely to you and the wonderful teachings of a true master in Paramhansa Yogananda. Continue to feed us this wonderful knowledge so that we too may help others find themselves amidst the teachings from our childhood; establishing a path of joy and inspiration. Keith
Ok minor better is'nt a good way to explain\
I feel....enlightend but only at times of relaxation. i dont feel enlightened when i am walking around a store or even my house unless i have recently meditated.
I have a weird feeling, in my chest that feels as if i need to breath somthing out but when i inhale back i feel i need to do so again. (not air i mean a FEELING that i try to breath out of me because that is waht it seems i should do but it keeps coming back, sorta an empty feeling or the feeling you get when you think you forgot something.
i dont know how to explain it except weird...its like a corrupted enlightenment feeling.
-Thanks and sorry for multi comment

Hello Darlin' Thank's for being all that you are...
Things I like, and people I admire...
The love of Yeshua (Jesus) the frankness of Apostle Paul the writing ability of Steven King, the beauty of Sarah, the knowledge of Adam the spirit of Eve and the humor of Bob Hope....and when you put it all together I just want to be ME I like what all these have to offer and I’d like a bite out of those apples too... However when you take all the glitter and sass away... I want’a be the me that lives on the inside... she’s the most profound, innovative, down right truthful person I know... and I really like her... maybe because I know her best... I know her abilities and her flaws... and she’s got what it takes to make it all the way to the other side of here and now... she’s my friend and my ever present help in time of need... she’s been with me all my life and she’s never let me down... She’s my Friend... and we’re
Just Mary....

My wife and I are Lightworkers. She long ago came up with this wisdom for fast success: Find someone who is the best in what you want to do and completely emulate them. When you have their Way down pat, add your own style!
My friend recommended this post to me.
Beloved Burt G., up till today the one I would most like to consciously model is an individual called Pan from http://WWW.BuddhaHill.DE, because he is a true sanyassin from Osho. Love, PremRaj.
Hi Burt,
My Guru is Paramanhansa Yogananda, and I practice Kriya Yoga. Since your enlightenment came from him, you are my role model!
I don't have one specific role model. I learn from every thing and all beings. So that means that I pick and choose what I feel is good for me, in a given situation. The rest I discard while I am learning what I need to know. My curiosity to get the best of all, guides me towards what I am looking for at that specific moment. For me, life in itself is my inspiration and my daily encounters are what gives me the energy to go on every day.
This does not mean that I do not have my interest and goals. That is different from the richness I find every instant I have. So as you, Burt I am trying my best to get all I can now and replenish. My next step will probably start pretty soon, and is to start giving what I have been able to grasp through life and also keep replenishing in a different way in order to give some more.
OK so I ran across a book of his in the library and loved his message, but I wanted to learn more. If you join his institute or fellowship you have to sign something that says you won't share it, or teach it. How did you get around that?
I would like to learn from you! You know it all. I would like to spend one full year near you and attend all
your seminars if I could afford them!
Hi Burt
Let me first thank you for your lessons-
Regarding the model it is difficult as humanity has been hearing about souls as Krisna, Budha, Jesus,Ghandi,Yoganada,....Barak Obama...even you Burt.
my great curiosity from what i heard is bout Babaji.
So very difficult to choose a model though recently i decide to hear from you.
Hi Burt,
Eversince I attended to your Silva classes, Supermind 1 and 2, Transcendent Mind, all your Hypnovision classes and everything else you have tought me and are still teaching me, I am getting more and more aware all the role models I want are already hidden in myself.
All I have to do is take a Quantum Jump in one of my infinite dimensions to meet the role model I want advice from.
But then, knowing you as my greatest teacher ever, you don't make a bad role model yourself either
Yours,
Daniël, The Hague, The Netherlands
I have always modeled myself after my favorite authors such as Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, Ken Kesey, Tom Robbins, they have helped make me the conscious mad man that I am and am going to keep it up and spread the mind expansion that they have shown me
From Burt:
Who would you most like to consciously model, and why? (It doesn’t have to be a famous person, even your neighbour or co-worker can be a role model!)
Answer from Joy:
YOU! Because you have the ultimate love of life.
When can I take you out to lunch in S. Cal, at your favorite restaurant for starters?
To be honest,Iam a beliver in no comperesing ,or competition. For some reason,in our consiesness this two are still triggering a negative,an agressive thinking and energies.I wish to find the balance.Yes ,it maby good to be able and help your self by imagining the model You want to be.At the same time ,it will be good if we can manage to create our own,so we dont get in to the usual "sheep consiosnes".Find our deep levels and stay at the surfess at the same time.Just balance.I am Mihaella and Universe is my GOD or model.Universe to me is endless, powerful, rich/MOTHER/,reflecting our human behavior,so we can learn from, and I am a creation of her, wishing to learn what was i blessed with. Then I can bring out every gift i was given from her,and leave it with people now and behind me.This will give me the most satisfaction and joy.Something like that. My role models are Anastasia and her and Vladimir Megre's son Wolodja. They are absolute purity of thought, clarity of intend, unconditional love, harmony with all of life, divine wisdom and creativity.
And they remind us all, where we come from and who we truely are.
Thank you Burt for inviting us to think about our role models.
Petra.
I am saying Anastasia as well as the other who mentioned her. wow, if we could find someone like this (and the others mentioned) to emulate, we would be peaceful, happy and in the flow with life. why dont we try harder?
If your always "The Man" every where you go, you need to find different company. A lot people in the world will say I have no one in my life that I wish to model my life after; if so you need to find bigger people to surround your self with. Alignment and who your aligned with determines your next level in life.
Hi Burt, you surely are a human activator! My guru is Yogananda and I do practice Kriya yoga, even if he is not there physically, one can connect with himthro his lessons. Thats what he says in one of his books"Focus on me, think of me and you shall draw energy from me" this is what I practice and this is how one will start imitating his guru. God wants us more to imitate him than pray to him. I go thro your blogs and find them very inspiring. You have had close contact and lessons directly from a great master. I can see his energy in you. Therefore you are my role model!
Hi Burt, I was a little troubled at first when I couldn't think of someone to model from. The ego can be so much more than it should be! Then I realized that the person it would have to be, and could only be was Jesus of Nazareth! At one time he was just one more man I couldn't trust! I've come far to get here. I have a long way to go. Things are coming faster, but now I don't have the same health level and my grasp is slipping. I know that all we have is love. I know that this requires detachment. Doing bootstrap therapy, I remain, Karen
Hi Burt, I have been watching you carefully. You are doing what I have wanted to do for years. I want to find something that helps people and gives them a Good Life that you talk about. I share your information with lots of people and thay see the delight in me and the direction they can go also. It is hope in an interesting time in America. People are more in a quest for better in every way now. Better finances, better health and more peace and joy. The best part is to pass it on to someone that has not gone past an obstacle and see them blossom and start the journey toward the Good Life. You have a video where you say it is ok to have abundance. Your calmness, your beautiful hair and your message grabed my heart. I have tried many of your suggestions with great results. It makes it easy to keep on learning and looking for the deep meaning. I know what I learn today will help someone so I walk in a different way now and there is a growing calmness in me now and my hair is the best is has ever been. I guess you might say I am consciously modeling you. It is an honor. Thank you so much for sharing and changing my life to the Good Life. Patty

Burt I would have to say you!! as I have always looked up to and hung around people much older than I,as they are so much wiser and smarter, been there done that, and so many people do not give them the credit they deserve!! I looked up to husbands Grandmother,as she had been through so much, all of her kids except 1 passed before she did, thats very hard on a parent(5 kids and 2 husbands),she was still going strong until a year ago when she started having surgeries and went downhill from there,we lost her last month,I feel a big whole in my heart as she was the one I would call on for advice, she was 88 years young,I didn't have much as far as parents,as they were the type to always put you down, very abusive, mentally and physically my whole life at home, even after I left, and didn't know my Grandparents,so she was the closest I had,I have read all your e-mails and have a huge folder on my computer with your name on it,I have not been able to purchase your products like I would like because of finances, and would love to be mentored by you,I wished you lived next door to me!! I would love to learn everything you know!!There are so many guru's out there on this whole LOA,manifesting,etc..But I think you have more experience than anyone!! you are very inspirational to everyone, you do know what you are talking about and have been doing it for so many years, where others are just copying the same concept but changing it up a little bit to sell there product,I'm not saying thats bad,or that they are a bad person,I know business is business, but you are years ahead of them and still going strong and learning knew things all the time as well!! You are Great!!!
I am in agreement with you about conscious role modeling. I think one of my role models is Jesus only as a woman. I also would role model my mom who is quite the lady. I take different bits and peices from other people depending on my mood. I am going to become a famous person overnight like kelly Clarkson. In the spiritual world I am Celine Dion really. We are not our bodies.
Hi Burt,
I would to love to consciously model you.
Jose
I love ME, so I would model the ME I know and respect the I that I know so that I can guide ME. With due respect to all the ME and the I in Heaven and on Earth.Linda Yap
Burt
You are one of the luckiest people to have met and learned from Swami Yogananda. I have read the autobiography of a yogi by him and I couldn't help loving him. He was the very epitome of LOVE and ny role model. When you see his photograph you can't help
loving him. I think he did not have to say anything,so charismatic was he. He was the person who ignited in me the power of universal love, the oneness of I, the world and God.
Dear Burt,
Thank you so very much....I have many role-models that I admire and look up to in my life for different reasons... I think it is importand to see your own inner model to, without to have someone else as role-model. True model is our own model, before that it is no point to look outside of our self. Everyone we see and meet can be our model...and if we like what we see or don´t like....It is still a mirror of our selves. There are so many good people in this world and I think that everyone is trying to do there best to be the best they/we can be.
Love Light & Peace

Burt .... What another wonderful opportunity to go within and ascertain what qualities we truly wish to emulate of anothers.... This may take some pondering.... Certainly you, with all your years of learning an growth, have much I can learn from. In fact your the only one who I have regular video contact with in which I could scrutinize manerisms... Others would be, and they are all male, not sure what that says about me hahaha .. ok not getting into the gender thing... Dr. Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, some of Eric Pearl, Guy Finley ... Wow the list could go on ... So I shall take the parts I observe to be who "I AM" and slip right into I AM ..... Or ?????? LOL Have a wonderful week.. Linda
Burt, you are the person that I admire. Ever since I been reading your e-mails, I have notice the diffence in my surroundings and my life. Thanks, so much for the free downloads that you have let me have, since I can't at the moment afford your meditation tapes. The people that already have your cd's they are so spiritually lucky. I am working real hard on my home base business, so I can afford your tapes I desire to have all of them. My goal is to suceed in my business so, I can help myself and family and be able to help other people too. By the way, I also, have had spiritual dreams, I feel so blessed and happy and feeling more confident, since I have you in my life.
God Bless you always!
so true...great info....
Roy Eugene Davis (also a disciple of Yogananda) would be my choice if I could spend more time at his Center for Spiritual Awareness, just north of Atlanta, Georgia.
His no-fee meditation retreats places him in a different category than most people I know.
I've watched you Burt
Burt, I'm interested in learning more. I have something very important to ask you about India and Indians. Can I call you or met you?
I was in a conscious relationship for five years and my role model died. I have been looking for someone else to model. Burt you are the closestto what I had in the relationship so I am using you to consciuosly role model.
In looking for models, one may pick the characteristic you want or need, and take your modelling from many: Tony Robbins writes about this, and I do believe it has been useful to me. Unknowingly, as a young child, I used this. I wouldn't have had any names for it, but I trusted myself intuitively in this to find models who acted the way I wanted and felt I needed to be. Teachers, classmates, neighbors, people on TV and in movies were wonderful models. I didn't need to know or impugn or second guess their or mine motives, just capture the essence and put on the demeanor. Acting as if really works!!
Burt,
it´s so dificult, because if you are poor(poor of money or soul), probably you should know person at the same state because you atracted them. How i should know a person of another level and follow her ?
If you are poor, probably all your friends are poor to.
I think if you want go to another level you must follow a greater enlightened persons.
thank you for the la vie en rose commentary.
we are unwed lovers and parents of our beautiful girl. thank you for reminding me that...this is a culturally available choice and that it does not diminish the beauty or even exemplariness of our love. i often feel that...if only we were married we would be such a model of loving. and yet, something in our love affair makes it one out of wedlock. and yet...i know it is good love. so thank you. i live in a french town. i forget that i may embrace my own relationship as an example of good love.
Burt,
Role models keep changing for me. At times there will be a feeling that when I look myself in the mirror, I appear like the Role model as well.
I do not know if it is just a thought. But it happens when I consistely try to see someone through me.
Thanks
Hi Burt,
In my quest for spiritual enlightenment, I have read many books, attended seminars and listened to countless tapes, but I always though that being able to consciously emulate someone who had already achieved the things I was aiming for would greatly accelerate my own journey.
I must say that right now, the best spiritual/ law of attraction/ living your purpose teacher I have met is you. All of a sudden, things and concepts I was struggling with are becoming clearer, and I'm feeling a lot more confident.
So, if there is one person I would want to consciously model after right now, it is you. You embody the dream I have for myself, the person I dream to become.
The person I would model is respoensible for becoming enlightened on his own, mostly. He felt he had a calling and decided that helping people was his mission in life. I first heard about him and his organization at at early age, his name and his mission intrigued me and stayed with me for years...It was much later in life, when I really needed his advice, his consul and his contribution to my well being that his organizations website appeared on my screen. Since then, I could list the improvements in my life, but it would sound like a commercial, his name is Jose Silva from Laredo, Texas.
Is'nt this what the dwadle is all about. The role model is yourself.Or did I get this all wrong?
In Supplement to my previous comment. If anyone has guidance. opinions, experience or direction for me in my personal journey please feel free to comment I am definatley in a personal enlightenment and growth stage. I am very confused and hope that all this will help. Please feel open to comment and my email for discretion can be reached Rharnett@persona.ca
Hey Burt, this is great stuff. As a man, I think real masculine role models are few and far between. What do I mean? Well, to me a real man is both strong AND gentle. The best example I saw of this was in the movie La Vie En Rose - the story of Edith Piaf the French singer. She had an affair with a French boxer at the time, this would have been the late 40's I think. His name was Marcel Cerdan, and there are scenes of them together in the movie, like when he took her to a real nice upmarket restaurant in New York. My point is that he was this really tough guy who dominated the ring - he even fought Raging Bull Jake La Motta - but he treated her like a lady. Here he was, this big strong guy, yet aesthetic, well-dressed, and handsome - refined, educated, and treated women and children with respect and tenderness. So I have been inspired by his example and try to emulate the blend of power and gentleness - even tho I don't know him personally.
PS I know some will slam him for having had an affair but you have to take into account that this is not a 'sin' in French culture.
I my quest for enlightenment and personal peace/happiness That has just started a mere 6 months ago. I am leaning so much that one particular person as a role model would be great but with my commitment to the Silva method and subsequently or as a result the my attempts to use the Quantum jumping as support. My previous readings of Dr Wayne Dyer, Tony Robbins, The secret, and many other self enlightenment books and theories. As I try to practice the best and common ground that all these present am still sorting out the correct methods for me. I have had limited success at present and when I have a clear direction and understanding will then adapt a mentor ship routine.
Hi Burt:
Awesome thinking! My role model is an individual that inspires me. He always has a suggestive motive to inivate me with positive thinking and goal setting. Understanding the true meaning of living life on life terms. He is well respected in the community and always helping others, and he is the true meaning of a visionary. Sometimes people come into our path for a reason and we mistakenly consider them as a role model. As time goes on we try to follow their path and find out later that he/she is not the person we want to model after all. I am saying this to say that I have found a true role model in my life.
Burt that is lovely. I am encouraged now to do more unconscious modelling on Jesus and the people in the Bible that I admire. But you yourself Burt are a great model and I appreciate your presence and your voice very much We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful people who point us in a healthy and lively direction
In 2008, my husband and I started learning Matrix Energetics from Dr. Richard Bartlett. He does something very similar to Conscious Modeling. He borrows the what he calls morphic fields. Sometimes he borrows the morphic fields of his teachers, sometimes he borrows the morphic fields of really incredible people he knows, like John of God, and sometimes he borrows the morphic fields of fictional characters. In the latter case, his first experience doing that was having Superman show him where the problem was inside a child's head in order to correct Lazy Eye. I think it all works because it's all light and inforamtion.
I had an aunt that I called titi Rate. She was the closest to enlightenment as I have seen. She had that love energy around her all the time, patience, giving to everyone around her. She was a mother teresa to me. Every time she visited she told me stories that happened to her during the war. As I grew up she didn't change, she was as loving (unconditional love) as ever. She was revereed and respected by everyone who knew her. Titi became a nun at age 60 and was considered the ambassador of her church in Wisconson and when she passed mourned by hundreds in all the places she visited, NY,PR,DR,Germany, and many more places. I miss her but I still feel her love. She was my model.

Hi Burt,
I have to agree with John above. You seem to have it more together than anyone else I know of. My father and others I have met have admirable qualities as well. I understand this conscious modeling principle is extremely powerful. I think we should learn from whoever we can. The internal/externa balance is very important as well. Far too many of us look outside ourselves when the answers are within us the whole time.
i model off of my town. the deep relax here is unreal, the perfect mix of heart and spiciness. post-katrina it was amazing to watch the grace with which people moved along to a new day.
warmly,
flora of new orleans
I guess i don't personally know anyone I would want to emulate that way. I know that when I am in the presence of aware people, i pickup their calm, lovingness and that can carry me quite a while. But overall? I guess I haven't met my guru yet.
Hi Burt
I am modelling on you.
Your voice, its intonation its calmnness, which also shows on your face, and the way you move and the look in your eyes all reflect the enormous wisdom that you have acquired on your journey so far.
I can share what you have learned and in turn pass it on to others. There are signs that this is creating results already.
I thank you so much. John
Hi Burt,
Having read all the blogs here, I have to agree with you and all the people here. We all have someone we would love to be like. I love Anastasia from Russia, I wish I could have some of her gift. Only recently I have been finding myself with true passion and purpose in life and I look to people like Oprah or Barbara Walters or my friend Amira when I start to wane in my enthusiasum for my quest. Each of these people display patience, courage and compassion for others, all the while achieving their said goals.
Regards
Noelle
i don't understand...
Anastasia the woman who lives in the taiga woolds of rusia the one who Vladimir Megre write about. Why? She is in my opinion the Jesus in woman form. That's what i wanne become.

I've noticed the general idea instructed is to choose one "role-model". Then again, isn't it possible to look up to a few? For not everything in one role-model is always acceptble and found worthy of emulating - moreover, if we actually evaluate each and every "candidate" role-model and filter their virtues and vices, aren't we actually looking within somehow at the end of the day? Trying to creat somewhat of a "super role-model"? Then remains the question, isn't this image in our heads a product of exterior influences after all.
I agree with you totally Burt. Having the opportunity to watch and learn from someone who seems to you to have got it right is an eye-opening experience. One of my son's coaches was the person in my life I truly wanted to emulate. It was some kind of charisma and control of self that I had never had the chance to observe in real life before.
How great for you to have had that chance with Paramhansa Yogananda.
Hello Burt,
You are one of the truly blessed and lucky people to have met Yogananda...to have learnt from him!!!
I do try and model my Guru's (Shri Kripalvanandaji - who went into Samadhi 25 yrs ago. He was the epitome of love - just sitting in his presence one would be enveloped by pure love! I can still feel that love whenever I feel sad and remember him and talk with him!
I would love to be able to love one and all -but I find that I am not able to do so! There are a few people who I just cannot even like, the thought of those people also makes me bitter and angry!
I understand intellectually that everyone is connected, we are one, etc but I am not able to practice that knowledge!
At the same time, I must also say that I have become a little better than what I used to be. So, there is still hope
Hmm...my higher self and Jesus:-)
The funny thing with me is that all my role models are fictional characters from movies, comics, TV etc...
here is a short list of some of my role models (you may laugh lol) Qui gon Jin a Jedi from star wars, Aragorn from lord of the rings, Batman and Doctor Who.
i wonder if the conscious model thing works with them too?
