My Paintings, Revealed 133

As all of you may know by now, I enjoy painting. In fact, along with the creative stuff I do, to relax, I either meditate, write, or paint. However lately it’s been painting that does it for me best, and I thought it would be nice to share some of my work with you all.

Once you view it, it would be nice to know what you do to relax and calm your mind besides meditation. Please leave a comment as I enjoy learning from all of you, and do let me know which painting is your favorite.

My Paintings

Afternoon At The Museum

My latest creation is right below. It’s called Afternoon At The Museum. The size is three feet x eight feet.

SOJOURN AT THE SEA

I call this one SOJOURN AT THE SEA. People coming to the ocean front on a warm summer evening to look at the harbor. This painting was inspired by a Van Gogh that I like.

WOMAN WITH SPINE

The four lights diminish towards the right thereby bringing the eye in to look at a modern abstraction of my own that I call WOMAN WITH SPINE. This was painted by me after I heard Sarah Palin speaking.

NIGHT CAFE

The painting below is inspired by another Van Gogh that is my favorite of all, titled NIGHT CAFE. It took me the longest to complete, something like two weeks of pleasant work went into this one but you do get a kind of sense of futility with everyone just sitting around waiting for something to happen and the waiter just lounging with nothing to do. Should he play some billiards, or bring someone another brandy?

As I live in a place where it seldom rains, and never snows I thought a peaceful snow scene would be nice. Looking at this one kind of cools me off during a hot summer day.

Which painting do you like? What do you do to relax besides meditation? Please do share your thoughts.

With thanks and appreciation,

Burt Goldman

Hi Burt,
I chose SoJourn at the Sea. It’s very relaxing to look at and enjoy.
I have to admit I always wondered what happen to you.
As I was very young when I took my first Silva class with you as my instructor…now I know. I look forward to using the MindBox Collection with great confidence.
Much Peace & Light,
Gina

Victoria says

Burt, I have started listening to the MindBox and I am just amazed by the wisdom that you are so generously spreading in such simple to understand way. You are changing my life at this very moment. I can’t even explain how amazing I feel that I have found your teachings.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work with us. After listening to the creativity mind box, you prove once again that your mind is so powerful that you can paint like this having never been a painter before.

I love WOMAN WITH SPINE, it is something out of this world.

THANK YOU FOR DOING IT ALL!

Hi Burt, my favourite is also the snow picture! I find martial arts (jitsu, karate, taekwondo) very relaxing. Also hitting bullseye in anything is calming (I’m only talking about target sheets with circles). Hah! And I study law, which is sometimes relaxing too, actually… but I’m a wonderful human being really, I think :)

Hi Burt

You are amazed man and inspiration for many people.

Burt,

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I like the snow scene and SOJOURN AT THE SEA. Burt, I don’t know how to relax so I don’t do anything…wish I knew how to really let go and relax.

Cindy says

Hi Burt!

I choose your Snow Scene painting, for use of color and “sound quality.” I don’t (do) cold, but I love to watch gently falling snowflakes on grateful evergreens.

I like gardening, listening to music, doing Numerology Charts, laughing and petting my cat, Merlin.

Thanks to you, every day in every way, my life gets better and better!

Blessings!

GoodMorning Burt! I absolutely Love Afternoon at the Museum, also the Snow, I have looked at your past gallery paintings and really drawn to your style. I love the feelings you portray with color! I am one of your friends on Facebook, see you there!!!Happy New Year to you! Namaste’

Dear Burt,
Thank you for sharing your work.
Each of your paintings has its own quality.
Afternoon at the Museum… contemplativeness.
Sojourn At The Sea… a longing and thoughtfulness .
Woman with Spine… a vibrance.
Night Cafe … boredom and loneliness.
Snow .… peace and contentment.
They are all memorable but am leaning to the snow scene.: )

Have a Happy New Year !

Hi Burt,
My favorite is the peaceful snow scene.
For relaxation and to move forward in life, I chant nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

Rosemarie says

I love your art,was quite a surprise to me. I would say the snow scene is my favorite but I love your use of color and the fact that the viewer can always use his/her imagination to finish the shapes if we have to.

I am also an artist, paint on porcelain. It can be very exacting or free depending on my inner line-up. Then comes the purification through firing, which often brings disapointment or surprise and clears the way for further improvements.. Sometimes I have to keep viewing the pieces for a while all by myself and sometimes it is easy to part with one’s own art. We leave ourselves open to all kinds of opinions.

Thank you for inspiring and sharing your “other side”.

Cara Herbstreit says

My favorite is that there is several of them. It is really not so much the content of any of them but rather that they are what they are together. A culmination of one’s lessons. An opinion. A talent. A prolonged commitment to one’s self. Achievement.

Jill Lambert says

Dearest Burt,
You’re such an inspiration to me in so many ways. I didn’t have a relationship with my father, so when I listen to your cds, I like to think of you in that way, giving me advice and tools to make my life better.
Your paintings are amazing, and my favorites so far are the Soujourn to the Beach and the snow scene. Both of them seem to emit a tenderness and peacefulness that makes me feel good. Thank you so much for what you do.
Sincerely,
Jill Lambert

Gilbert Oliver says

I love all your paintings they are all unique. My favorite is Woman with a Spine, very revealing. As to your second question, needless to say, Meditation is my favorite, I have another but is very personal, I can only tell you in person, sorry. Have a wonderfull life.

Maureen says

Hi Burt,

Thank you for sharing your art with us. I think they’re all wonderful. I would like to see some of the art you have done based on your own life and surroundings, as that would be a direct reflection of you, and your personal reflection of your own life. Each painting is a true gift to those viewing it, and an insight into you, the artist. It is like sharing a part of yourself with the world. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.

I used to paint and draw when I was younger, and I’m thinking of revisiting those talents and gifts of mine again. Thank you for the inspiration.

To relax I love to meditate, read, garden, take bike rides, camp, and pursue various spiritual and artistic endeavors. I find that art is so very healing to my soul. It brings out what is on the surface and helps it to heal. Kind of like working in the garden of life — it becomes a living meditation. Every thought and emotion has a face and/or a form. There is much inside of me and my consciousness that I would love to put on a canvas.

In Loving Kindness & Infinite Love…

Hi Burt!

I liked them all — they have a peace about them that is borne of the love you have when you are painting. I have little relaxation time (which is my own fault) as I work full-time and am trying to finish my dissertation for my PhD. Meditation is my relaxation — and I have planned an upcoming week in Hawaii just to do nothing.

Kriss Siler says

I love “Woman with Spine” best of all. I love the vibrant, dancing colors that depict courage, boldness, love of life, vision and wisdom for me. Whether or not one agrees with Sarah Palin’s politics or anything else about her is irrelevant to the beauty of the painting itself.

For relaxation, I also love to paint, draw, crochet, knit, dance, sing, read anything and everything, attend concerts, watch ice-skating and gymnastics, and watch movies. I also enjoy the various talent shows on TV, along with public television, science and nature, history, the food network, and a few drama series. I also love to write, write, write. These things only scratch the surface of all the things and people I enjoy. I guess I could sum it all up by saying that living simply, laughing often and loving deeply are all relaxing food for my soul.

With deep gratitude for all you share, Burt.

Kuulei says

Aloha Burt,
Your paintings, “Woman with Spine” and “Sojourn at the Sea” spoke to me the most of the 5 paintings you have posted on your site. One can see (“Woman with Spine” canvas) the energy and vitality flowing up the spine, spilling out the top, and over the front in an endless cycle — just like the infinity symbol. To me, it shows the infinity of the soul / spirit that is in each of us. “Sojourn at the Sea” is every souls quest and journey thru the vastness of time / space. Like those on dock looking out to sea, a lot of us stand around contemplating or waiting for life to happen. Others jump in and make things happen. Whether you have fun in the sea depends on how well you prepare yourself before jumping in the deep end. Thank you, Burt for your dedication in reminding us of the eternal truths that you teach thru your various CD programs. Keep up the great and needed work! Mahalo …

Dear Burt,

it’s very cold here these days,so I think I like the Sojourn at the Sea most, since it reminds me on the hot summer days at the beautiful Adriatic Sea. It makes me feel cosy and warm.
But the most intriguing one — I find Woman with Spine — not because of her spine and all the possible connotations around it, but because of the undefined coloratura the rest of the painting — totally different from the other paintings.

Edji says

Dear Mr Goldman,
I enjoyed your paintings — I never went to an art school but I also paint. However, I have a completely different style. You asked for comments — So, I will give you some the way I like to get for my own paintings (honest).
1) Afternoon at the Museum is excellent in terms of composition, choice of colours, peacefulness…You gave us a private spot in that museum to enjoy and refect in peace.
2) Sojourn at sea: slightly cold for me — However, the position of the lights is interesting — less light to the right…There are a few contrasts in this painting that can be given quite a bit of interpretations at a deeper level… In that sense — It is the most interesting painting.
3) Woman with spine: is the best for me. Not because of the theme but again in terms of composition, choice of colors, light/shadow, proportion and what not — Beautiful (I love colors).
4) Night coffee: is also very interesting — very good theme — However, the use of green in two large areas makes the overall slightly out of balance. If the light in the middle was slightly up, it would have created more harmony by breaking the large green space a little.
3) I love the last painting — I always smile when I see a person with an ambrella during a snow storm. It is interesting to see how the lady is carrying it tilted to prevent the wind from snatching it from her hand. It is funny because it is such a tiring exercise to cary an ambrella during a windy snow storm. I love it — Sense of humor.
Voila — There you have my honest comments.
E.S.

Hello Burt,

I always am curious about what the Silva System could do to penetrate into the minds of ‘World Leaders’ in order to suppport them who’re full of stress conditions without any solution for it.

And I’m hard working in my country to fulfill my mission to bring enlaghtenment to my country. We’ve since a log time a very bad economic situation. And I think that none of our leaders has the courage to change themself for the better, to have a sensitive intuition to rely on and building anew their negative habits.

I like you painting, even I’m not that guy, because I can’t paint.

The painting that has my deep attention is the first one.

Go on Burt,

Better and netter, Rify.

Hello…
There’s a Joy in painting from the Soul, is there not? I have had this experience, as well as painting for someone else’s pleasure, which was not at all the same, but required patience and a pull from the wellspring of life experience, as opposed to ‘letting it flow’ onto the canvas, wall, whatever.
Well Done, my friend,

Well done. Carol

Hi Burt;
Thank you so much for sharing your paintings. I particularly like the snow first off since I am Canadian and I am very comfortable with it but I also like Sojourn at the Seashore. It reminds of how I would like to be if I had the opportunity to live anywhere I liked.
For now, I love to sing to relax and also I am into embroidery.

Hi Burt,

You are very very gifted artist as well as a glowing unit of the energy source!

And that´s why I am going to comment about some things:

Your 4 paintings are inspired by Van Gogh paintings. That´s fine, because it shows the enormous talent you have.
Van Gogh was the precursor of Expresionism (painting)
However, I would like to admire those paintings inspired by your own life experiences and/or spiritual experiences. As an artist,it is a very interesting task to say goodbye to all those others artistic influences and to start the journey inside, in order to discover and create one´s unique style and expression.

I know for sure, that you can also be a precursor painter. You have the gift, you meditate. You can bring out amazing knowledge from your spiritual level and communicate them with your unique style.

This is a very interesting challenge… for every artist!

I express you my sincere admiration!

I love the woman with the spine.Because I am a woman I feel empowered but such a painting. It helps me to pull up my socks when I feel like cowarding to change.I feel like its god’s way to tell me to stand firm and get a spine. And do not be afraid but to be empowered The spine keeps the back together and therefore you break your spine you can be paralized but and healthy spine you stand firm. I know for some this would be weird but for me it makes me think of myself to be empowered and not to coward thank you Burt Just added more faith to faith I already had but it is a nice way to mean face things in life.I like running away or avoiding something exists and this painting tells me not to.God Bless you and thank you.Francoise

Hi Burt,
I liked all of your paintings. But my favorite was
the snow painting, as I also live in an area where it
never snows. Well actually it snowed about 4 years
ago (about 1/2 an inch) on Christmas Eve. However I
was in San Diego, Calif. at the time that it happened.
But, my great-grandaughter called me and I felt the
thrill of it all. I imagined myself making snow angels
in the snow when I saw your painting. Keep up the good
work. I love to work in my garden and tend all the beautiful plants that are in it. I also sit in my swing
and drink a glass of tea while listening to the birds
that visit and also enjoy all the beautiful butterflies, rabbits, and small creatures that venture in.

Thank you all for the oh so positive comments. But I believe that some of you don’t realize that all the pictures below ‘Morning at the Museum’ are in the painting Morning at the museum. Evening Burt

I do not know why but your painting of Woman with Spine for some reason I like it a lot it seems to stir my imagination and I suppose that’s what good art is suppose to do. However when I first looked at this picture and not the name I thought it was kundalini on the move up though a body.

Strange what the mind’s eye will see untill someone point out what it looks like to them or in this case a name and then you can see it too, In any case I really like this one, JW Downs

marti says

From one artist to another I thought your color palette for the snow scene was GREAT! I had a little problem understanding your style, since you showed us an abstract as well as whimsical looks. Do you like to do both, usually? To relax I may paint outdoors, meditate, or go to the beach to see the turquoise water and white crest of the waves along the light sandy shore. Fortunately, weather permits these indulgences often. (Hawaii) When it rains I love to be wrapped up with a good book and some hot chocolate!

Brooke says

Hi there Burt. I just love the snow scene. I live in Canada and just love a good snowfall. It is so peaceful and beautiful. I like to read to relax…especially historical novels. It’s an escape and I don’t have to think…just make the words pictures in my mind and since this happens automatically it requires no effort from me.
Have a wonderful day Burt.
In love and laughter, Brooke

Hi Burt
The Women with Spine caught my eye and left me wondering what Sarah Palin spoke about that night. I enjoy research regarding love and teaching for my relax time.
I think that Painting and or drawing is a great way to experience creativity while relaxing and enjoying yourself.

Hi Burt, Love them all for different reasons but probably Soujourn at the Sea by a neck.

I love singing loudly to songs I love in the car or when I am at home alone and dancing in my own space with abandon and clearing my head of all the ‘busy’ rushing thoughts that seem to invade my space.

Thanks for all your wisdom that I am trying to make my wisdom.

Light, love and laughter to you,

Carla says

Great use of color and oh what fun but still amateur in appearance. Keep practicing and don’t worry about what I said because it really doesn’t matter what I think. That is what art is all about — it’s what you feel. In Woman with Spine, the lamp posts look like they are made of light weight material and won’t hold the large lamps. There is no solidity to them. Makes me want to reach in and catch them, but then again — this is what makes people talk and if they talk, well then you’ve done your job. It’s all in how you look at it.

lory says

like snow scene very much

Michael says

Hi Burt,
I like Sojourn by the Sea; its calm and peaceful, but all your paintings are good.I am retired but have never been busier as I have been researching and writing a family history for nine years which is now nearly finished. When it is over I will return to my own painting, usually portraiture, which I find relaxing and rewarding. I’m finding also that meditation calms and relaxes and puts one in a good frame of mind and so thank you for all your help.

Ewa says

Hi Burt,

Very nice paintings, especially Woman with Spine and Night Cafe. I like your bright colors and lightness.

Jorge says

All are nice, but the one “woman with spine” has an original mixture of color. I have not learned to silence my mind long enough to meditate, but I hope soon to be able to find peace within.

Leila says

Dear Burt, I do admire people who can express themselves in a unique way which I feel you do. You have a unique take on things which is interesting. I do like the Night Cafe especially as one of my all time favourites is Cafe Terrace. You remind me that although we can’t all be Van Goghs (and in many ways wouldn’t want to be), we can still contribute meaningfully and have fun doing it!

Mary Goss says

Hi Burt,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful paintings. I love them all but my favorite is the “snow scene” I also live in So.CA but grew up in Buffalo,NY so of course it reminds me of home and the peacefulness of the falling snow as it falls quietly on the ground. I also like “Night Cafe”. My son and his wife are artist so I’m forwarding your paintings to them to see what their favorites will be… I need to try harder to meditate but it so difficult for me. I do love to take walks on the beach or walk the path along the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach they have such beautiful landscaping. Thank you again for sharing and please don’t ever stop all the wonderful work you do — you’re such an inspiration!!
Love

Hi Burt, you are so vercital in your art. I really love all of your work, so I felt strange in saying only one is a fav. I like Sojourn At the Sea and Woman With Spine. You definately need to be written in the Artists collector books so we all may admire your timeless beautiful work. So talented and free with a brush to paint anything.

kathleen wear says

Goodmorning Burt, My favorite painting is the snow scene. I live in Canada we get lots of snow and i love it. It is very peaceful. Ilike especially late at night when most of the city is sound asleep sitting with a hot cup of tea watching the snow fall in the dark and glistening on the ground very very beautiful. Another gorgeous gift from God. Thankyou for sharing your paintings with us. Have a fantastic day.

DEAR BURT,
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR ART — I ESPECIALLY LIKE, “WOMAN WITH SPINE”, NOT BECAUSE OF WHO IT IS, BUT OF ALL THE CREATIVE EXPRESSION IT CONTAINS. IT IS SO UNIQUE AND SO..YOUR OWN. WHAT A CREATIVE MIND YOU HAVE.
GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR BLESSING US WITH YOUR SHARING.….ANNETTE

Dear Burt,
I love your “Woman with Spine” painting. Very beautiful. I am a dancer and frequently see peoples’ bones/alignment when looking at my dance students or just people-watching. I paint too, so will share my work with you. Thank you, YOU INSPIRE ME! Love and Blessings, Karen

Dear Burt,
You are amazing. I love what you are doing and I do like your paintings as well. The snow painting is especially lovely. It inspires me to get back to painting myself. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your emails as well. They brighten my day.

Hi! Burt, Really enjoyed the paintings, you are really talented. Also enjoyed the Mind boxes material. It brings back old memories of my tour of the Far East while in the Marine Corps for the so called “Korean Police Action”. Also the 38 degree below zero temperature. In fact the dress of the people in the paintings looked like Korean garb. My favorites were the Night Cafe & the Snow Scene.

Ramona says

Burt,
I love the snow scene even is I live in Pa where I see snow every year. Also like the lady with a spine. I can understand the inspiration.

I am two months younger than you and you are helping me come to terms with who I am and what my legacy could be. I love Mindbox 1 and 2 and I am in the process of sharing your teachings with my friends and my family. I love all of your paintings but the one that really touched me is the portrait of Woman with Spine. I hope someone who knows Sarah Palin will let her know she is the inspiration for this painting. She has certainly been an inspiration to me and I admire her passion and her authenticity. You asked me about my hobby and that is “Gardening” I have a small plot of fruits and flowers.

What a pleasure to see your work. Thanks for sharing them. I especially am drawn to Woman With Spine. Beautiful and powerful piece. Also the snow scene is exceptional. I live in Colorado, so I’m very familiar with the snow and you captured it perfectly.
Relaxing for me is being outside walking in the woods or even just sitting on a rock. Where ever I’m at, Mother Nature is always so kind and generous to me. Thanks for all that you do , Burt.

What a privilege Burt, to see your paintings. Thank you so much. I like the Afternoon at the Museum but my favourite is, Sojourn At The Sea. Can’t really explain why, but it has a feeling of yesteryear that is very tender. Your snow scene has really caught the mood but it’s my least favourite, as I live in Scotland and it’s ruddy freezing at the moment. Thanks again Burt and keep well. Alex Voznuyk says

Works of art are evaluated according to several principles:
1. The name of the Master (especially when the artist is dead) contributes greatly to the estimating impression of a piece of art.
2. Vital energy radiating from the paining.
3. The civilization tendency the picture is connected with (the stage of human’s development often determines the conventions in appreciating the pieces of art – the humankind evolves though physiological stages of sensual perception of colour – from warm spectrum to the cold one (just as an individual’s sensual organs develop).
In your case I clearly see and feel the vital energy vibrating in the paintings which awakes our genetic memory and returns us as back as the starting point of human civilization.
Would U give your pictures in a bigger size for us to have the opportunity to comprehend them more clearly.
Thanks a lot for the creations.

Katharine Welch says

Hi Burt,

I like sceneries but my favorite here is the Woman with Spine. I don’t know but when I saw it, it’s just like the painting spoke to me. It is absolutely beautiful.

Chris A. Russell says

Dear Burt,
I like all of your paintings and that’s why I’m registering “Afternoon at the Museum” as my favorite as it appears to be a compilation of all your art creations.
What I like to do other than meditate is to welcome each new person into my experience and send them a covert blessing in passing. I am currently learning a healing modality called yoga nidra/iRest that I’m teaching to the returning wounded warriors here at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC. Please know that I’ve both learned and enjoy your teachings.

I am impressed and appreciate this — the paintings are very good. I like the cafe and the snow…As I write this, I am watching our first snowfall today in Ontario, Canada.
As an actor/filmmaker the desire to paint has been with me for a long time — I guess it’s all part of the art and the visual stimuli and the therapeutic process of creating it and it’s fun…I am grateful to have seen them and because you take the time to share.

Hi Burt,

My favorite is Woman with Spine. It is strong and fearless. She shows passion and creativity eminating from her aura. I feels like she is a healer or teacher and fully believes is herself. What I do to relax is yoga or walk outside weather permiting. I am learning to be mindful where ever I am or whatever I am doing. That is relaxing in itself. I also favor the cafe. Van Gough is my favorite artist. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Hello Burt.
Thanks for sharing your artwork! They are quite beautiful, and the Snow scene evokes pleasant memories of my childhood in New Jersey. For relaxation and general health, I practice Tai Chi and Baguazhang. I also play chess, but when at a tournament, and playing for a win, I wouldn’t call that too relaxing! Please feel free to check out my photography, which is also a form of relaxation for me.

Hi Burt,

I think there is lot of meaning once can attach to the Woman’s Spine. Especially the color combinations.
You may be knowing about the color of the Chakras and the aura. It appears like you are trying to analyse the woman’s thought on the dias while speaking.
That has a message.

Hi Burt ~

Nice! I love the snow scene. Reminds me of home and how I loved when the snow fell and accumulated on the ground, making for a great day of doing nothing, just being still. Thanks for sharing some of your work. My idea of relaxing is beading. Taking tiny little beads and making something out of them. Amazing how creating something and being present are relaxing and mindless all at the same time. I would have to say that for me it is my favorite form of meditation … I always end up in the “zone”, starting out with one bead and no idea what it will end up as … losing all track of time …
