A Rose By Any Name… 375

As I have shared with all of you before, I enjoy painting. In fact, along with the creative stuff I do, to relax, I either meditate, write, or paint. I thought it would be nice to share some of my newest work with you all.

All of these paintings were inspired by a Quantum Jump I took recently. Now I need your help to name them. Please leave your suggestions in the comments!

Hello Burt!

I like your paintings. All of them represent something.
But I like your idea, express your filings i a moment.
Your painting is that moment. It does not mater what it represent. The Universe is talking to you by colors and forms. If you are painting you create. You find conection
with Universe.
That is how I see your creation.
Then I can analyze and find forms in your pictures.
I like to read artist filings then how was expressed.

Eugenia.

Hi Burt. I love the colors and energy of the pictures but abstract art isn’t my favorite…I like seeing amazing skill of people like Van Gogh. But, overall, your work is great! –David

picture # 10 should be called “THE GALA” it evokes the feeling of dancing and a grand celebration. YES I WOULD LOVE TO DANCE!

PS #1 and #10, are the same, except that one is clearer then the other. I would call it, watching you.

Sandra says

Ok Burt, I’ll be honest with you. I have a picture on my fridge, done in crayon, by my 20 month old Great Grandson, that greatly resembles your panting’s. It doesn’t take any real talent do this type of art, I believe that any one on earth (or from space) of any age could do this. However, I applaud your color choices and I’m fascinated with the pictures that I see within the pictures. My particular favorite is #9, do you see the lady dancing? In fact I would name that one, Lady Dancing. As for the rest of them,
since they came from a QJ, I would suggest that jump again in order to name them.

Blues Skies,
Sandy

Hi Burt,

I love the bright colors and the freedom you express in your paintings. The ones I liked best and in this order are: #‘s 7, 1, 4, 6, 9 & 10. In some of them I see things or put together things and that’s fun too. Maybe one of these days I’ll feel free enough to take up a paint brush and have some fun with it, I think you do. Keep going.

Hello Burt,
You named your paintings because perhaps that is what you were trying to display;
My honest opinion is;
A person with a paint brush with no direction.
I see a lot of posibility without direction.
On one of the paintings it looked like
A lot of golden yellow and green healing colors mixed with red for energy with no place to go.
However, I am a Psychologist and my reasoning is from
an objective point of view.
But, what I pick up psychicly is someone having fun
with colors and colors to me are always beautiful because they are God’s Color Rays…

Curious though, for your titles.

Kriss Siler says

First, your paintings remind me of Jackson Pollack’s. Second, I love all of them, however my favorites are Pictures 3, 4 and 9.
Third, the following are my suggestions for names, though I honestly feel the artist, you, Burt, should name them, for you are the only one who knows what you were thinking when you painted them:

1. Infinity #1
2. Alien Feasting on Duck
3. Good, Good, Good Vibrations
4. Children at Play
5. The Devil Made Me Do It
6. Frolicking Birds
7. Ride the Rockies
8. Don’t Fence Me In
9. Champions on Ice
10. Infinity #1

Thank you so much for sharing your art, Burt. I can honestly say that for me, because art is so subjective, I like your work better than some of Jackson Pollack’s.

Linda says

Hello Bert, Interesting , don’t think they belong in a museum. But I am sure because you are who you are you will get what ever you want for these pictures.
I did not look at anyone’s posted comments. So here goes. I. Separate worlds 2. The Devil Sings Pretty Music 3. Faster Than Lightening 4.Self Discovery
5. Too Much Space Travel or for short„,Scattered Matter 6. Lion Tamer 7. Clear Pathways 8. Life within A Cell 9. Hear Me, Hear Me 10. seperate Worlds, same as first picture.

Can anyone say “Jackson Pollack?” I wonder what Mr. Goldman and Pollack share? This link goes to a site that will let you know a lot about Pollack: http://www.nga.gov/feature/pollock/

ichelle says

#1 is it a collage? it has an eye in the middle.
#2 looks like a creature alongside a manatee out in space
#3 looks a little bit like an airplane with greenery and sky mixture
#4 looks like a musical staff with the notes fighting and mimicing each other at the same time
#5 is a very colorful beetle in flight
#6 astral or LSD party
#7 carriage
#8 owl violinist perched upon piano
#9 dancers drawing down the moon
#10 clearer than #1

you have a lot of movement in your paintings. a lot vocal points and musical undertones. it really takes someone with an understanding of art to appreciate anything much different than a photograph so don’t let certain ones discourage you. the important thing is that you love what you do and you do what you love.

Hi Burt: Thanks for sharing. I think they might be nice as enamel jewelry pieces. Have you considered extending these designs to jewelry, fabric, ceramics, etc. I would love a bag with any of the artpieces on them. They are fun to look at. Also, it would be fun to view a video of you painting since spending time watching you paint might be less likely. Thanks for letting us share in your creation. You are cool Burt, Vicky B.

5 “Careful What You Wish For” — a demon coming to collect his dues

9 “the rising of the tide” — pagans dancing a rite for the moon
10 “harmony with mother earth” — there is a face at the top that looks like a woman warmly embarcing the earth

thanks for asking for input its always fun to see what others think if you could a response to my response would be cool thanks bunches

I will give my impressions of the pictures and if they inspire a label, all to the good:

pic 1 and pic 10 are of a space battle with fighter/bombers attacking and destroying a cruiser

pic 7 I see a frog wizard with a conical hat flying through the ether and creating form; my wife sees a map : )

pic 8 is the mitochondra opening up to reveal the elementals at work (did you know the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and it has its own DNA passed down by the maternal line? It may have been an afterthought addition to animal cells to rev up their power and all animal development)

pic 9 are salamander elementals drawing from pure energy and spirit and form to create the actualization of their fire spirit selves and dancing away

I noticed others made a connection to music too. I agree with the idea of not naming each one, but assigning them numbers in the series. I liked “Celestial Symphony,” though I would prefer “Music of the Mind,” which combines imagination (rather than making them outside the mind or beyond it)with music. It maintains simplicity and uses alliteration, which seems appropriate to certain similarities found among the works of art.

This is from me, Burt Goldman.

These are my drip paintings. When they were created I thought I would have something to say and the best way would be for everyone to see what they alone saw; not what I did when they were created. Kind of like a metaphysical Rorschach test with each painting signifying what a person would feel when they looked at it. Well it worked out entirely too well.

In just two days, as you can see here, there have been over 2,500 suggestions. And no two alike. Alas, not one of the suggestions matched any of my ten. So what do you see? My names for the paintings, I discovered, were mine alone.

For 36 years I was very spiritual, having a variety of spiritual experiences, which I totally treasured.I never had any control,or totally understood, but I knew I wanted that for all of my life.I also have had experiences similar to your pictures.I have never taken drugs,or anything.I considered myseld very blessed and special for that. In January 2009 everything stopped. now I am missing that so much, and really want to have those abilities back.I am on a very serious spiritual journey, not a physical journey.I do need someone qualified to figure everything out.
I am very serious about this and would appreciate your help very much!

Can you tell us what double told you to throw paint at the wall and why? Not to say it wasn’t hard but to name them. Now that’s HARD. Only you can do that as it was your frame of mind at the time. Good luck, I have no idea. It all looks like nothing but scripple to me. But I know nothing about art. If I like it, I like it. This I don’t like, but that’s just my taste. I prefer your other paintings. I understand them or perhaps I can see what they represent so I understand them.

Annasydney says

Hi, Burt ~
I enjoyed ALL the posting responses, even those which seemed hostile or judgmental. (Key word = “seemed”.) They are all just a reflection/projection of each one’s current understanding of how things are in the Universe. And all will grow and change, and eventually Awaken. Every perception is valid.….from that one’s point of view at the time. In honoring each other, we honor ourselves!
Our function in the meantime, is to Love each at the place where they are at, without judgment. And if we find that difficult (as I sometimes do), then that is a cool indicator of another area of Shift needed within our OWN personal perceptions and consciousness.….so, back to the drawing board: when we are willing and ready!
The paintings, names for (what fun! thanx for this unique, playful opportunity!!):

1) “A Frog By Any Other Name is Still a Quantum Leap”

2) “Shifting in the Void”

3) “Dancing to The Music of the Universal Guitar”

4) “Fishing for Small Truths, Hoping to Land the Big One”

5) “HELP! I’m an Ingredient in Snarl Soup”

6) “What Was I What Am I What Will I Be?”

7) “Lying At Peace in the Sea of Healing”

8) “Eating the Ego.…Bit By Tiny Bit”

9) “Spreading My Wings to Dance With the Invisibles”

I think some of the responses are so bizarre. Rather than naming them or doing nothing, you’ve gotten some angry responses. It makes me wonder where Cynthia, Penny, and others are in their life that they would sling strong judgments, rather than just not commenting at all.

As an artist paints a picture, writes a poem or a book, plays or sings a song or dance, he or she expresses a pattern of mind that cannot be expressed with a name alone. This is not pertinent to the art. I have made my comments earlier.
I need your help to download the sex therapy you provided. I downloaded all the bonuses but didn’t download the therapy, I paid for. You are a psychic and you should be able to see through me whether I am telling the truth or a lie. I am telling the truth. I was busy with the online marketting learning so much so I delayed downloading. By the time I tried lost everything. Thanks

Art is appreciated by an artist who is able to delve into the inner frame self of the artist and follows the hand that draws these images in psychadelic colors.
What I can make of it is immaterial. What it does to the drawer is a blossom of flowers each representing a bloom. Only the author can identify the bloom.

why not call them The invisible energy collection. Since there is much of the universe we can’t see maybe the energy resembles the paintings.

Linda Peregory says

Good work, Burt. Sometimes the mind wants things it can play with, and abstract art serves the purpose nicely Your colors are lively and fun.

keith hendricks says

Dear Burt ‚3. 4,&7 work three is skull like the others are “signatures” You should enlarge them and see what you can get. Like quantum jumping you can jump to very cogent images, which evoke prescience.

keith hendricks says

I am a painter by long study I’ve learned to distinguish ‘happy accidents ” from a progression of work ‚building to a leap into a finished result.Pictures 3,7,8 are the best ones of the batch.
The probability of their consistency as painting to build on is however, unlikely as they are accidents. If you scan sections and, work from these you might be surprised by your successes. Good luck!

They remind me of the nebulae created by stars which have gone super nova. At present there is a relatively rapidly shrinking old red super giant star by the name of Betelgeuse a few hundred light years from our solar system which MAY POSSIBLY be in the early stages of a collapse either directly into a black hole or a collapse which will result in a super nova explosion. After the light of the explosion reaches earth we will see it almost as a night sun for a few weeks. Of course, they could be examples of one of the points you like to make to show us how the mind acts, lol. ( Nice stuff by the way!) Later after the supernova has blasted debris for awhile in all directions, it would look through a telescope a bit like your pictures as can be seen in pictures of the crab nebula today.

Bob says

Bert,

I agree with Krista. Give it a series name and number them. A painter and fan of Jackson Pollock myself, I believe the viewer “finishes” the work by bringing their own experiences. All of the posts have a name so they are all good names. Titles can get in the way of forcing the viewer to see the work in a limited way. Art of this nature contains motion and is unbounded like the Universe. Why limit it with a name…

Blanka says

I see series of pictures of your meditation session. very first picture is going around the world trying to find answer to your question and by picture 8 you find answer to your problem (A helicopter sent by an angle for rescue).
even though pic 1 and 10 appear to be same but they are not. pic 10 is sharper than pic 1. I say before meditationthought were fuzzy by the the end of session there was clarity in thoughts.

Picture 6, I see disastor all over the floods, the fires, draught and very little greenary, there is no way to escape from it.

your session ends with more clear thoughts than when you started the session.

Hi Burt :) seeing as though you associate these paintings with Quantum Jumping I would tend to see them as a series, The main theme in my mind when i look at them is that they are Microcosmic close ups of Vibrational Movements, each colour used corresponding to a differant Vibration, They could be called any number of things but i Might call them “Quantum Meditations” and number them 1 — 10.. or something like that :) Much Love

Hi Burt, I love the abstract work. It gets the conscious linear mind out of the way to perceive it!

No 1 and No 10 are the same image.

No 1 and 10 — Perpetual Flow
No 2 — Apple of my Eye
No 3 — Dancing the Music
No 4 — Emerging Peace
No 5 — Complimentary Chaos
No 6 — We’re all part of the Big Picture
No 7 — Out of the Formless
No 8 — Going Deeper
No 9 — Ascension

As for the comment about all preschoolers must be genius — THEY ARE quite literally because they have not yet closed their perceptions to block their access to their intuitive senses. Most of us as adults have to work really hard to get it back once it is lost.

All expression as art is worthwhile in the same way as all people making that expression are worthwhile. In the same way as with people — we may not all resonate with art that is at a different frequency than where we are. That’s what makes life interesting and fun — that we are not all robots following a script and have to all be and do the same.

Awesome job Burt — keep on painting!

Terese says

Oops! The painting is actually number 3, the one with the black lines and the little red circle off the center. This is the masterpiece work of art!

Terese says

Hi Burt.
Picture 4 is the painting that you want to further explore. This painting has great potential! Less is more”, the blue blob of paint on the right side of this work of art hides what is underneath. Perhaps using a transparent blue paint would work better! This type of painting is a masterpiece. I would do more of these, actually do a whole series of them.
Titles, hmmm, I would pick my favorite work of literature and randomly open to a page and point my finger to a phrase on the page for abstract titles to match the abstract works. Enjoy!

David says

Hey Burt, the pictures are great but i gotta tell you that if you had a hundred monkeys and put a paint brush in their hands, one if not all could paint like this.Keep up the good work.

Charlene says

Interesting. Isn’t painting #1 and #10 the same?

T. J. Birkenmeier says

There are fast-moving subatomic particles called Quarks…and even smaller light wave/particles called photons that zip and zoom and zig and zag in the quantum world.

Light can be both a wave and a particle.

If you know the speed of a particle, you can’t know its precise location. If you know a particle’s location, you can’t know it’s precise speed.

Remember Burt, the “super string” cosmic dance of the Universe is all about vibration.

The Big Bang was just the sound of the Big Thought” and the Big Thought came from the Really Big Thinker.

I think you might be a “God Particle,” not unlike the one being searched for at CERN and Fermi.

You and I are not Quarks…but, we might be Quirks!

How about that for a name for your colorful cosmic creations collection? “Mind Quirks” or “Burt’s Super Strings.”

Why not make limited-edition numbered prints? I’ll produce them for you and help you market them.

I’d buy one! I bet lots of other folks would to!

Unless you wanted to give me a Burt Goldman Original “Mind Quirk” in return for the fabulous “Crystal Capstone” I sent to you.

Painting #1 looks like the “Wellspring Paradigm”, I don’t know how to describe why but it makes sense to me & the way I perceive it. Painting #2 seems quite ominous to me like “Lucifer meets the Chariots of the Gods” though lord knows that’s a terrible title for it. Painting # 6 looks like the “Loculus of Archimedes” or just the “Loculus”. And Painting #8 looks like “On the Origin of the Species”. Burt Goldman My name is Burt Goldman. I’m one of those “lucky people” who discovered a secret early in life. For the last 50 years, I have been traveling the world and meeting and studying spiritual masters from every inch of our planet. Now, at the age of 82, I’m ready to share with the world what I have learned. I started this blog to be able to share with you my most valuable teachings and insights I have gained over the past few decades. Here, you’ll find plenty of valuable information on meditation, energy healing, spirituality, and my latest revelation, Quantum Jumping. I look forward to connecting with you and I sincerely hope you enjoy being a part of this blog.
