Someone's four-year-old was "helping" me make a couple of roasts this past weekend on a grill. Of course, the fire was low, and I was slow cooking them. As I turned the roast and closed the lid, the little boy said, "No! You're supposed to go tsssss!" and he pressed down with the spatula like he was pressing burgers. I smiled and said, "Does your dad do that with burgers?" He said, "Yep." I said, "Oh. Well, roasts are different." So, maybe I helped forestall some deeply-ingrained family tradition.

Thanks for that anecdote, Burt. I found it to be very insightful. I understand about your stance on hypnosis. What about self-hypnosis though??

Sure look forward to your Dear Burt talks. I really like hearing about the power of intention. I need to practice this more, to feel comfortable with it. Thanks for talking about it again.

Hi Burt,

I think it was me who was behind a bit so glad to see you today even though I am a week behind (6/11/10) I love the sipping of coffee together. Anyway, LOVE the story about the roast. So true that we need to find out why we do things a certain way. I changed my thinking - my mother use to hit us with her slipper and I NEVER hit my kids while they were young. I told them that I would take them to jail where the young kids went. That scared them and if I ever thought I really needed to take them there I am sure that the policeman would have told them to be good. So I changed my ways while rearing my own children - I didn't continue the slicing of the roast. :) :) :) :)
See you next week!!!!

Dear Burt,
Your comments on procrastination gave me a huge belly laugh. I have experienced both the positive and sometimes negative sides of it, particularly putting off old age. I loved it. Thanks.
